This second generation diesel multiple unit was introduced in the 1980s to replace British Rail’s ageing fleet of “Heritage” DMUs. The 150/2 design incorporates a gangway cab design (unlike the 150/1 units). These two car sets have operated throughout the UK since their introduction and continue service to this day throughout England and Wales.
