A long awaited update to Train538's New Jersey Transit Revamp route on the Steam Workshop for Train Sim Classic featuring nearly 300 miles of track and 6 NJ Transit rail lines with a plethora of services to be operated between New York Penn or Hoboken Terminal to New Jersey's western suburbs. We decided to temporarily start uploading updates here on Train Sim Community because of issues with uploading updates on the Steam Workshop that Train538 kept running into. Enjoy from Badsport_215 :)
EDIT 6/3/24: I accidentally uploaded this with standard & timetabled scenarios that were not supposed to be released with the route. If you have the standard scenarios with your copy of the route you should probably delete them because they're unfinished & I intended on releasing them as their own separate pack when I did finish them.
America’s busiest, most historic, and legendary commuter railroad – the Long Island Rail Road – now comes to Train Simulator Classic! A trio of iconic New York City terminals (Penn Station in Manhattan, Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, and Long Island City), across “The Island” to Hicksville, New York.
The sprawling Big Apple and the bustling city of New Haven come together in the exciting new NEC: New York-New Haven route for Train Simulator, featuring many of New York’s famous landmarks and advanced signalling throughout.
Essential requirement as this is the base route for the revamp.
Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor is America’s busiest passenger railroad and among its most vibrant and captivating. Across the Corridor, Amtrak carries more than 11 million passengers each year, the Corridor hosts America’s fastest trains, and it is home to many of Amtrak’s busiest and most famous stations, including classic New York Penn...
Train Simulator’s Peninsula Corridor route delivers dynamic and modern American commuter railroading on the renowned commuter rail line operated by Caltrain along California’s vibrant and bustling San Francisco Peninsula!
Widely known as the “Windy City”, Chicago has now been brought to life in Train Simulator, in the famed route The Racetrack Aurora - Chicago. The route begins under the skyscrapers of Chicago at Union Station, making its way through the urban landscape and out into the western suburbs, journeying along past yards, stopping at 24 commuter...
Comes free with the NEC: New York - Philadelphia route.
Naviate to the following path
"OS (C:), Program Files (x86), Steam, Steamapps, Common, Railworks, Content, Routes
Open up the zip folder, and drag the route folder (the 5e5C05db... one) into the Routes folder mentioned above.
And you're done! Enjoy the route! :)
Hey, ive down some flying around and this is awesome! Are yall considering swapping the tracks and a couple textures?
Would you be able to upload a photo of the route map into the description on the mod?
I thought showcasing a pic of each individual route with an accompanying pic of a train running on the respective routes would be enough.
The six routes included in the revamp are: 1. - NEC, 2. - Raritan Valley Line, 3. - Morristown Line, 4. - Montclair-Boonton Line, 5. - Gladstone Branch, 6. - North Jersey Coast Line.
I use this map at the New Jersey Transit, site for reference: https://content.njtransit.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/maps/RSM_Geographic_110123.pdf
BTW: The Pascak Line is available in the route section of this site and the Bergen Line is available on the Steam Workshop.
What are all the "RouteProperties.xml.to_install" files in the archive for?
Also, one edit you could possibly make manually: dump all the Workshop tags from the actual RouteProperties file (basically, "<WorkshopTags d:type="cDeltaString"></WorkshopTags>", change the number to "0" in the two entries above that, and it will remove the Workshop tag from the route since it's no longer in the Workshop. =)

Just wow ! Boys, never give up !
how do u install this
Drop the route file in C:\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Content\Routes and you should be good to go.
Im having trouble finding the folder as shown above^
Nevermind, everything works now.
I have all the dependencies but some tracks are missing, help?
Can I see a screenshot of the missing tracks?
Im not sure how to attach images to a reply but i've sent it in a new comment. This is just one example, im doing a run down the Raritan Valley line now, but more tracks are missing down by Newark Penn and when the Raritan line turns away from the main NJT track.

I forgot about this comment thread, we used the North Jersey Coast & Morristown Line & the Chicago Racetrack for the tracks so if you have those 2 DLC's that you claim you have then they should be there bc I wouldn't know how that would otherwise happen -.-/
You will also need the Train Simulator Academy for certain track sections to display
After a nice file-cleanup, this is what the route folder should look like on your end.

I wonder in the future will NJT Atlantic city line be added to this route
We don't plan on it since there's already a WIP ACRL route that needs to be released
on the Boonton Montclair line bewteen Wayne Route 23 and Little falls theres a piece of track missing

I was about to mention the same thing. I saw 94 miles to Hackettstown on my HUD and got confused
Yeah, I will release a mini update & fix all those bugs for youse
am i the only one who gets a out of memory crash when im near woodbridge station?
I'll check sometime but I don't believe I get that OOM crash near woodbridge
sorry i was still playing on the steam version i downloaded the trainsimcommunity one and the crash is gone

I have all the required packs but I still get this for most of the scenarios, anybody else?
Those scenarios weren't supposed to be released with the route. I was gonna originally release them as their own independent packs but I accidentally forgot to delete them one time. I would just delete those for now
oh ok thanks, I was just clicking f2 and driving the routes anyways. do I also need to download the original version from steam before this one? I like these scenarios you have so i dont want to delete them lol
Any changelog for today's update?
Yeah i'll post those in the FB groups I promote the route in.
Decemeber changelog includes scenery & tree lines on the Lehigh Valley Line, additional housing & other buildings in New Brunswick, Hightstown, & Trenton. I also put in the buildings for Kean University.
Thanks 👍
Looks like quite the extensive route! One question, why is the LIRR needed for the route to work? According to the map posted above, the route doesn't go any further east than Sunnyside Yard. Is the LIRR required for any assets/trackwork, or just rolling stock?
I ask because I personally am not interested in purchasing the LIRR route, given the performance issues it seems to have, but I would love to give this route a shot if I can.
LIRR was added for some minor details at Trenton & we were planning on merging LIRR route scenery with the revamp route between Penn & Woodside.
So, it wouldn't really be a big deal if I didn't have the route? Just a few missing scenery objects at Trenton?
Yeah
Thank you, I'll give the route a shot!
where can i find a changelog

Theres no scenery at Bound Brook, don't know if this intentional or not.
You need the Chicago Racetrack & NJCL routes for the scenery to appear at Bound Brook. Check and see if you have both of those dependencies for it. The surrounding trees require the Washington to Baltimore route as well if you want to see those on the map too.
just saw it was updated today whats the cahnge log
Hi guys. Can you start cycling the requirements for the San Francisco route out of the route? The route is no longer sold and, while most people probably have it, newer players who have the other requirements would not be able to see the route properly. You can ask DTG for permission to include specific assets directly, though I cannot confirm if they would agree. This would however be the best way to try to preserve their use in the route.
Update soon?
As soon as we get a new Google Maps API key.
Nice keep it up I like the progress your all making with this :)
what would be minimum dlc to run the gladstone branch?
(like making the trees pop up etc and everything display like it was intended to)
Definitely NJ Morristown & NJCL and the separate NJCL version as well or else the terrain would be broken with white textures lol and maybe New York to New Haven it will still look a bit barren with some trees but that's because it's still a wip and you didn't get all the dlc
also don't buy NJCL just get Morristown & NJCL if you don't have it and make sure both of the dlc's are checked in the dlc manager
Currently I have everything except for the LIRR and Caltrain routes. From reading the above comments it appears that LIRR is only used for some minor scenery adjustments... but can someone please confirm as to what specifically will NOT work without the Caltrain route? Thinking of major issues like missing tracks, platforms, signals, instances of zero scenery, etc.
Also, is the PL42-AC and the F40PH-2CAT bundled with this mod? Or are they separate DLC/mods that have to be downloaded from somewhere else?
Without CalTrain it'll be a bunch of trackside industrial scenery that won't show up. and the LIRR DLC does include minor station details as well as lineside low poly trees along parts of the NEC.
Please update the dependencies to include the Train Simulator Acadamy as it is needed for the tracks to appear on the North East Corridor NY-Philly section
The Academy should already come with the game.
Everyone has the Academy. It's like saying Kuju\RailSimulatorCore is required.... ;)
Just saw this was updated ~5 hours ago, what's new?
Scenery edits:
-Catenary work around Linden, Avenel, Metropark, and Metuchen
-Scenery work along Wood Avenue (CR 617) in Linden.
-Tree and housing work in Piscataway
-Added/updated supports for Dock Bridge in Newark
-Scenery work in Philadelphia
-Distant tree work from Bay Head to Manasquan
-The Atlantic Ocean has been extended further east in Bay Head to look bigger.
Quick Drive edits:
We have made edits for Quick Drive scenarios arriving and departing from Trenton, Long Branch, Hoboken, and New York Penn
Trenton
-98a = Track 1
-98b = Track 5
-98c = Track 2 (Southbound only)
In addition, there are now 3 Amtrak options departing North/Eastbound from Trenton
-Amtrak A = Trenton, Newark Penn, New York
-Amtrak B = Trenton, Metropark, Newark Airport, Newark Penn, New York
-Amtrak C = Trenton, Metropark, Newark Penn, New York
Long Branch
-20b = Long Branch Yard Y-5 (Northbound only) and Long Branch Yard Y-3 (Southbound only)
-20c = Track 2 (Southbound only) and Track 1 (Northbound only)
-Added an option to drive 2312
Hoboken
-Added an option to drive train 2313
New York Penn
-1 = Track 9 for Amtrak 647, Track 11 for other Amtrak trains, and Track 12 for NEC NJT trains
-1a = Track 3 for NJCL flipback trains, and Track 7 for Morris & Essex MIDTOWN DIRECT trains
Sounds great!
I forgot to tell anybody but the "1a. New York Penn" QD option puts Gladstone & MOBO Trains onto Track 4 and "01. New York Penn" puts those same MIDTOWN DIRECT trains onto Tracks 9 & 14 for better occupancy.
Since the Peninsula Corridor route is no longer available, is there any plan on updating the route so that route is no longer a requirement?
