By using Train Sim Community ("TSC", "we", "us"), you agree that we may process and store some information about you as described in this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated in a timely manner.
When you create an account, we store your email address, password, and any optional profile information you choose to provide, such as your display name, profile text, date of birth and timezone. Sensitive information such as your email address and password is stored securely. Date of birth is used solely for the birthdays feature and is optional.
For operational and security purposes, we log IP addresses alongside certain site activity, including logins, comments, password resets and form submissions.
We set a device identifier cookie on your browser, which is used to manage login sessions. If you have consented to analytics cookies, we also collect anonymised usage data via Google Analytics and Microsoft Application Insights. These services may transfer data to servers in the United States. No analytics data is collected if you have not consented.
When an advertising campaign is active on TSC, and only if you have consented to cookies, we collect limited tracking data for ad reporting and fraud prevention purposes. This data is anonymised and scoped to the individual campaign, meaning neither TSC staff nor advertisers are able to identify or track individual users across different campaigns. Approximate geolocation information (country, city, and internet service provider) is included in what is shared with campaign clients.
We process your account data on the basis of contractual necessity - it is required to provide the service. IP address logging is processed on the basis of legitimate interest for security and operational purposes. Analytics and ad tracking are processed on the basis of your consent.
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, your personal data is removed promptly. Operational logs and backups may retain some personal information for a limited period for operational reasons, but are pruned periodically.
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, use the self-service section within account settings, or reach out to us via the means outlined below.
