Just Trains Western Mainlines Exeter to Penzance Rework.
This product is an updated Exeter to Penzance which is intended to bring the route up to a better standard then it was originally. There are sections of the route that has seen a overhaul noticeably between Exeter and Plymouth which represents the route in better detail and seems a lot more like it should for a Devon and Cornwall route!
Key changes.
Built up Plymouth and Exeter.
Dawlish Warren to Teignmouth (Bi Directional Added)
Long Rock Depot.
General Trackside surroundings and certain landmarks.
Reworked Exeter to Plymouth. (Trackside Trees)
Reworked Newton Abbot to Paignton (Trackside Trees and Surroundings)
Station Stopboards and Scenario Editor Stopping Points.
Reverb in Tunnels!
Reflective Water Assets for Estuaries and Oceans.
Points of the Cornish Mainline seeing updates but isn't generally a rework as I think the CML is fairly decent

I'll like to say that this product is soley only a facelift and not a complete overhaul! I also don't have any plans to change over locations on the route further then Exeter.
I'll like to say thank you to clearlysxd for providing a scenario.
I hope you enjoy the route and the included scenarios ;)

Nice work, thanks.
In the 2P09 included scenario, I had an AI collision between 2C11 & 1C55 during the Bodmin Parkway stop.
Hello Frankoi1337, I am aware of such presence this happened when I played the scenario. I managed to fix it by just redoing the timings for the ai trains on the scenario editor itself. It crashed for me just before Bodmin Parkway as you say.
I fixed it before the release of the AP 220/221 EP which then I updated the scenarios for the use of that so the times work but the scenario didn't calibrate properly. For me though it was an easy fix. redo the times on each service in the scenario. ;)
@South West Scenarios
First thing the route is looking great, 2nd and this isnt being nasty so please dont take it the wrong way, i just had the same AI collision on the scenario that i was really enjoying, a shame cause i am not great at editing let alone altering timings, downloaded the route this morning . Any chance you could possibly edit it and re upload it as a patch please?. 3rd i drove the new AP 220/221 pack from Paignton to Exeter with no issues, looked lovely and will drive that scenario more, not looked at the other scenario's yet but i will. Lastly this route needed an update so thankyou, great work.
I remember having tested the AP > JT track patch but removed it again as it exposed a lot of holes in the ground on JT routes, that is due to the AP tracks (which are licensed from TSG, they are the Konstanz-Villingen german B70 sleeper tracks actually) having a smaller trackbed than required.
Might consider VP or TSRS tracks instead? Though having the CommonLibrary packed into an .ap I can apply and remove the patch easily when needed.
Anyhow thanks for the route and cheers!
Hello Spikee1975, can you describe the track issue more? I used the AP Track patch for JT Routes as it looks much better then the JT Track that it replaces.
Maybe even a picture?
whitch voyager do you need ?.thx
Thx Just seen.can i change to 220 ep?.as not yet have 220?.thx
Hello home1967 the scenarios now include the Class 220/221 EP from Armstrong Powerhouse. but does require the Just Trains Voyager Advanced as AP used that model of the train.
Here's what the ATS AP Track Patch does to JustTrains' Midland Mainline. First image original, second with the linked patch applied - I instantly removed it and you'll see why.

Don't get me wrong, I like the AP Track EP but even on its "home routes" it shows its flaws. Due to the lower trackbed AWS ramps are floating, or unwanted ground textures are shining through for example on North London & Goblin.
But - I think you can declare it as optional. It seems your route runs well without it.
Interesting screenshots there. I have never used the ATS Track for any route from Just Trains as I find the AP patch works for me and have never experienced these strange terrain bugs. I wander what are you seeing with my Exeter to Penzance with a AP Track installed could you send a screenshot. sorry if I am being a pain, lol.
That screenshot was made with the JT AP Track patch that you have linked. The AP Track EP does not cover JT routes, probably for these exact reasons. As you can see, that GU track model uses attached extra "terrain" that covers up these holes and very likely sped up route building. The replacement track is missing that special feature.
I can show you an image of your route without that track patch as I'm not willing to use it, because it is affecting other routes as demonstrated.
To avoid all this you could make your route independent from what people install by editing tracks.bin to directly point to AP\TrackEP instead of JustTrains\CommonLibrary. This should happen before people are starting to make scenarios though.
So without the ATS AP Track patch for JT routes, your route looks good as well. That's why I'm saying you could change the patch from "required" to "optional", if people don't want the side effects of said patch.
Original JT tracks, yeah ok sleepers are flat and not the german concrete B70 type but... I've seen worse (I think we can agree that JT's old 3D tracks which you can switch to are horrible :) )

I've taken another look at the patch. I think the crucial thing is the included "JT GU Studios Track Patch" which breaks MML. It should not be required by your route, so could be safe if you don't install the extra GU patch. I'll experiment with that.

Ok so installed the patch without the GU patch, a bit darker now. Note that even if you do not install the GU track patch, it will affect MML as it is using the same modified Texturing.bin from the CommonLibrary. Though that can be avoided by copying the original blueprint first and renaming it "texturing_mml.bin" for example and change to that in MML's RouteProperties.

But I feel it's too dark and will stick with the original JT trackbed and rails, after comparing it to imagery found on the web JT's original tracks do look more appropriate imho.
Hello Spikee1975, This image of the AP Track is how my copy of the route is looking. I don't think I ever installed the GU Patch anyway as I never got the terrain issues and I have been on the MML Recently. I have been using that AP Track patch for years and have never had any trouble with it.
Yeah that was the culprit. Still that patch will affect MML terrain texturing, due to the shared nature of JT's assets.
Anyway, your route works with or without that patch, so all good :)
too late i been install JT AP Track Patch 2021 ok how remove it thx tp spikee1975 south west scenarios was good job and wonderful
Fab rework - fair play, this is really good stuff
Thanks alot for making this
Thank you for playing!
Hi this route has had a massive uplift and works fabulous, please can some ECC freight workings be added to top it off.
once again very well done!!
That's a good idea. Thank you for playing!
Great work pal. Whole route looks fresh and new. Very well done.
Thank you glad you are enjoying the route ;)
This is an excellent revamp, I love the detailed stop car markers.
I seem to have the yellow, black and white missing textire pattern in some areas alongside the line yet I have all the requirements listed. Is there anything you can suggest? I've reinstalled Western Main Lines plus the extensions but the problem still persists.
Where is the missing textures located? do you have all the requirements listed?
Hello, it appears to be in quite a few places. I do have all the requirements. I’ll try and fiddle with it later on.
Roger that. hopefully you'll sort out the issue.
I've had a play around today and still have the issue sadly, see image below:
I
This is just North of Plymouth station. Thanks.
Hi I can't seem to identify a problem with where the missing texture is appearing, I would suggest maybe reinstalling the route and see what happens. There isn't any assets there apart from the JT Trees. It could be a corrupt route tile. which is why I am suggesting that reinstalling the route might be the fix.
The missing texture is 'Pebbles Dark NS'. I painted part of a field with 'Pebbles Dark NS' which resulted in missing texture chevrons, just like Jonathan's picture above.
Okay thank you GaryB and Jonathon. Have you tried painting with a different texture? also do you have the Paignton extension? that is separate to the South Devon extension. not sure if that is a issue but just asking. ;)
All the other paint textures are okay, it's just the 'Pebbles Dark NS' that has the missing texture. I have the full Western Mainlines route installed that I purchased from Just Trains. I've noticed that the original Western Mainlines route's paint texture is 'Pebbles Dark' and not 'Pebbles Dark NS' as it is on your route, mate. I've gone into the editor and used a track texture to paint over the missing texture. Fantastic rework, btw.
Thank You GaryB. the texture could be discontinued then. I am glad you like the rework.
Having some issue here on some scenarios where the milage to the next station does not go down unsure if this is an issue with the route somehow or something else my end that needs investigating
I haven't experienced this issue. Sorry
how replace track different color please help thank
Paul, not sure what you are trying to ask sorry ;(
If you wish to leave a comment, please log in .
hi mate that nice route wow i wonder you will make through exeter to paddington ???? to future look forward play thank
Hello Paul, no I do not have plans to do anymore locations on the route. As I find there is already other versions out like SWEW which gives you Exeter to Bristol, Westbury etc. I am glad you like the route for what I have done with it. Thank you! ;)
that ok i look forward route take care
You too Paul ;)
