2B19 07:25 London Euston to Northampton (1989)

Description

It’s 1989 and a changing of the guard is underway for Network SouthEast commuter services out of London Euston, with the introduction of the new Class 321s spelling the end of the short stint of the 317s on the WCML.

An added element of variety was provided by the Northampton ‘Cobbler’ sets, formed of 10-12 Mk1 coaches hauled by 86s, acting as capacity boosters. These were subsequently withdrawn in 1990.

During the transition period, take 317 329 on a semi-fast working to Northampton against the morning peak flow.
