Cologne Aachen Timetable 2023 (Version 18)

The timetable is finished and works for TSW 4, 5 and 6. TSW 5 content only available in TSW 5 and 6.

Version 18 tested with TSW 6. Remember to activate the layers.

What differentiates this timetable from the status quo?

• looping timetable: seamless transition from before to after midnight
• all passenger services running on September 13, 2023 with compatible rolling stock are included (some only as AI)
• real times as much as possible (that makes some services very hard as there is little prep time)
• freight services that use loops and require waiting sometimes up to 15 minutes
• freight services that are following a real timetable with respect to rough times and loadout (timetable was only for portion from Aachen West to Belgium and back so the times for Cologne-Aachen are guesswork)

What lines/services are playable?

• RE 1 between Cologne-Aachen with Talent 2 as stand-in for Desiro HC
• RE 9 between Cologne-Aachen with mix of Talent 2 and Dosto+146 (substitution for 146 is possible)
• RB 38 between Cologne-Horrem with BR 628 as stand-in for DB Talent 1
• RB 20 between Düren-Langerwehe and Stolberg-Aachen with BR 628/BR 642 as stand-in for Euregiobahn Talent 1
• RB 25 between Cologne Hbf and Hansaring Siding with BR 628 as stand-in for LINT
• S 19 between Cologne Hbf and (yes) Aachen with BR 423
• S 12 between Cologne Hbf and Horrem with BR 423
• ICE 3M services between Cologne Hbf and Aachen using BR 406 with coupling services using BR 403
• ICE 1/3 depot moves from Cologne Hbf to depot and back
• 6 ICE 1 services between Cologne and Aachen (3 per direction)
• freight services with varying loadouts between Cologne-Aachen using Vectron and BR 185 (substitution is possible)
• Eurostar services replaced with expert 101/cab car between Cologne and Aachen
• one pair of ICE T services around Aachen
• BR 218/BR 204 special services
• BR 103 + vintage IC coaches with one service
• Flixtrain services (mostly depot moves for player and one pair from/to Aachen)

On interesting services:
This timetable contains some special services that were not part of the official timetable of DB at that day. These involve BR 103, BR 218 and BR 204. But there are also interesting services that are part of the timetable and have interesting nuances that make them different from the rest. Here is a non-exhaustive list: RE 9 10921, RE 1 26857, RE 1 26855, S 19 32057/32064, S 19 32061/31002, S 19 32037 -> S 12 33270, ECS 10070

You will notice that almost no RE 5 services stop at Köln Hbf. That's because on the modelled day, they bypassed Köln Hbf and drove from Köln West to Nippes. And these no-stop services are actually modelled as closely as possible to their likely times on the represented route part. The S 6 services are missing entirely, again, because they didn't operate on the modelled day due to construction work. Moreover, you will notice that the platforms 3-5 in Köln Hbf have not a single service on them from 21:00 onwards and until 4:00. That is due to construction work on these tracks during these periods on the modelled day.

Due to demand for the ICE services with stop in Düren, I added those 6 services from the 2024 timetable. Don't be surprised: in direction of Aachen they are not really faster than the RE 1 because they are stuck behind it as in reality.
