LNER Class A5 4904 'Phoenix' (unstreamlined A4) (Flying scotsman reskin)

V.2.0 Changed Main colour to look better with the lighting in game, looked very washed out in sunlight. Got rid of the thomas and friends wheels, now has much more A4 style wheels with white rims.

In a not so different alternate history.......

Its 1939. War has broken out in Europe. Doncaster works has been told to start production for the War Department. All existing LNER projects are halted so, with its boiler and streamline casing removed and requesitioned to aid the war effort, the planned 36th A4's frames and wheelsets sit rusting in a corner of the works covered in an old tarpaulin.

In 1946, after the war, it is decided that she will be completed as the only unstreamlined A4, due to a lack of materials to make a new streamline casing or smokebox. With a spare cab and boiler from a withdrawn, bomb damaged A3 available, 4904 'Phoenix' rises from the ashes. While her numbering follows the sequence of the last of the streamlined A4s, due to her unique appearance while retaining the improved A4 steam circuits and cylinder design, she is reclassified to Class A5 and remains the only member of the class to be built. Painted in LNER Garter blue, she enjoyed a long career hauling expresses up to Scotland from London, and performed equally or better than the A3s and A4s that preceeded her. She was repainted in BR Express blue in 1952 and was eventually retired in 1964, entering the national collection in the NRM, standing in pride of place next to her record breaking sister, Mallard.

In 2013, it was decided to overhaul her to modern mainline standards for her 70th anniversary. An anonymous benefactor donated a seven figure sum, and she was outshopped in her original post war garter blue livery in 2016, with her boiler ticket set to expire in 2026. After another minor overhaul in 2022, She can be seen the length and breadth of the country hauling railtours, VIPs and on heritage railways, occasionally running with her half sister 60103 Flying Scotsman.
