After Korean War, the S.Korea's Railway was maintained by Railroad Adminstration Bureau (RAB) under Ministory of Transportation until 1963, when Korea National Railroad (KNR) was created. KNR split and public corporization since 2005, as the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and Korea National Railway (still holding KNR's name) with one handle operation, the other handle maintainance.
The 8100 series was aimed to replace the 8000 series, the 1st AC Electric Locomotive of KNR, back in 1971 based on the SNCB 15000, produced by Alstom and Daewoo Heavy Industries. The 8100 series was based on Siemens' ES64F 'EuroSprinter', but only 8101 and 8102 was produced due to the serious wheel slip damaging the railways.
The 8101, from Wikipedia's picture, still carry the KNR's Green/Yellow/White Livery with KORAIL's logo, as KNR already adapted the logo back in 2003 before the split. According to the image, the KORAIL logo does goes into the curve at front.
