In an alternate future where the state-owned Great British Railways has gone bankrupt, the only chance is Amtrak, the now multinational rail operator for most of the world. Drive the last portion of an Amtrak journey from Rainham (the line has now been AC electrified), from Ebsfleet to St Pancras with an ACS-64. You will have one intermediate stop at Stratford.
