In the 1990s, Morrison Knudsen (later MotivePower Inc), built five F40PHM-2Cs for San Diego’s North County Transit District. Utilizing new frames with 645E3C engines and other refurbished components, these F40s served San Diego commuters daily from 1995 until 2021, passing their crown to NCTD's fleet of Siemens Chargers.
With this repaint, All though the body style is inaccurate to the prototype, the -2CAT is the closest thing currently available to the -2C.
