This is a scenario presents 120 minutes of unusual Valenta fun for the "Bristol - Penzance & Branches 2005" route available here.
During the busy summer of 2004, increased holiday traffic to the South West led to a shortage of available rolling stock, prompting Virgin Trains CrossCountry to borrow sets from other operators to help cover services; among the stand-ins were GNER and Midland Mainline HSTs, adding an unusual splash of variety to the region. In this scenario, you'll be driving one such working, with GNER-liveried Class 43 power cars 43110 and 43008 - both still fitted with their original Paxman Valenta engines - deputising on a Newquay to Newcastle service. Having arrived from the Cornish coast, the train now requires a new crew for the next leg of its journey. Your task is to take over at Plymouth and drive through to Bristol Temple Meads, keeping to schedule as you weave through the busy mainline traffic. Date: 28th August 2004.
