On July 26th 1988 the the Volunteers of the St. Louis Steam Train Association (or SLSTA for short) were tasked to pull a 2,100 Ton freight train from Stevens Point, Wisconsin to North Fon du Lac, Wisconsin. Most of the train would be set off at Neenah, Wisconsin with only 6 freight cars being brought back to North Fon du Lac. These were all part of the Frisco 1522's Shakedown Runs on the Wisconsin Central, as the locomotive had just been restored back to service after sitting idle for 37 years. The locomotive continue to run in excursion service for another 14 years. She would pull her final excursion on September 29th, 2002, after which her fire would be dropped for the final time. Today she sits on static display at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri.
The date is July 26, 1988 and the crew of the Frisco 1522 are returning from Stevens Point with a freight bound for North Fon du Lac.
