TSW3/4 visual normalization

Second version:
Here is version two with great visual improvements. I redid the clouds, overhauled lighting and added some basic scalability settings from Epic's Unreal 4 documentation.

Features:
• Clouds have little to no impact on frames with this engine.ini. Therefore, I recommend using ULTRA for clouds!
• Bigger, more distributed clouds
• Improved lighting

There are now two versions available:

  1. High bloom settings, with UE4 default value
  2. Default bloom by DTG

I recommend using NVIDIA's DL-DSR scaling or similar techniques and in-game screen scaling set to 100% for best image quality.

How to activate DSR on NVIDIA graphic cards:

  1. Open Nvidia Control Panel and go to Manage 3D settings.
  2. In Global Settings choose DSR - Factors and activate both DL scaling in the dropdown menu. Save it.
  3. Start TSW and in the settings go to screen resolution and pick one of the newly added ones. These are the DSR ones and should have the highest resolution.

First version:
Basically uses the recommended settings for lighting by Epic Games for the Unreal Engine 4.

Here are some perks:
• Normalization of auto exposure and lighting
• Removed the in-cab overexposure and other weird adjustments to lighting done by DTG
• Dimmed the headlights of all locomotives that have their lights correctly assigned to be headlights
• Reworked the clouds - you get high detailed, two layered clouds in low resolution, which actually look really good and don't affect frames that much
• Increased range on all exterior cameras

Installation Instructions

Go to 'C:\Users[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld3\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor' rename the file to 'Engine.ini' and save it in that folder.

Headlights are too weak in TSW4 (tested on AVL F125)

Yeah, could be. I don't own TSW4 so I can't test it.
I will upload another .ini with default brightness. That said, I only dimmed the light bulbs themselves so that they are not just blank white. The brightness of the lightcone on the ground is not affected.

Hi Cadrisan, Thanks for sharing.
In your description you mentioned using DL-DSR scaling. I can't find a setting adjustment for any scaling in the game (TSW4)
Is it something we have to activate via nvidia control panel?

Yes, exactly. You have to activate it in the nvidia control panel and then choose the high DL-DSR resolution in the game.

Here is a link to the info to assist you, I don't use GForce experience, I update my drivers without it, there is info if you do but I'm unsure how well it works the way it's shown.

@OleDre I don't know what the link refers to, but it is not what I meant by using DL-DSR.

@Geardy Here is a short guide on how to set-up DL-DSR, additionally you have to select the new resolution in the game of course:

I was just trying to assist a bit, the link is with image scaling, I see now that these are two different ways to scale while in-game after setting it in the Nvidia control panel.

Hi, question about clouds: Clouds should have no impact on frames anymore. but in Jetwash manual for Lighting & Graphic Enhancement, we can read:
<Do not set the ‘Sky Quality’ to Ultra. To avoid the unnecessary performance hit associated with that setting ‘Sky Quality’ must not be set any higher than ‘Very High’. This mod includes big enhancements to the skies and volumetric clouds and Ultra will be incredibly demanding.>.

I found a way to minimize the effect clouds have on performance by adjusting values in the ini-file. So with my ini-file it is now possible to have clouds set to Ultra without any frame drops at all.
Try looking at the clouds with frame counter enabled (F3), play with the clouds slider in God Mode and you will see that they don't affect the fps.

A really good setting, good FPS with good quality.
I have a question: with this setting the clouds don't move, right? is there another option here? And is it possible, that the train lights don't work properly at night using this settings? I know, lights by night are a DTG thing anyway...

I am happy that you like it.
The clouds actually move at the regular speed. I didn't touch the speed, but it could look like they don't move because they are three-times scaled up.
If you want to adjust the build speed of clouds search for this in the .ini:
xTimeOfDaySystem.MinimumCloudSpeed=0.0
delete the x and set it to 0.3. By default, it is set to 0.1. But it is the cloud build speed and not the actual movement speed that you adjust there. I would love to adjust that too, but I don't know the command to increase the movement speed of clouds.

For the locomotives' lights I can only think of decreasing the minimum exposure:
TimeOfDaySystem.AutoExposure.MinBrightness=3
Otherwise, I don't know what you are talking about, since mine work perfectly. Maybe you could provide a screenshot to explain.

Just what I needed. I play the NEC New York - Trenton route a lot and it was way too bright when I use TSW4. When I installed your Cadrisian_V2_ReducedBloom_Engine.ini file, the brightness is now normal and I'm very satisfied!
