This mod replaces the meep sound for the PZB and SIFA emergency brake for the BR 218 and subs it with a custom alert sound.
I would like to highlight that this mod was purely made for fun and does not intend to be an exact replication of sounds like in real life. If this mod or sounds in it aren't something for you or you just prefer real sounds is absolutely okay.
Check the comparison between default and modded sound here, and decide whether it is something for you or not.
The siren sample I used was panic? by deleted_user_2906614 -- https://freesound.org/s/263621/ -- License: Attribution 3.0 , who sampled it from Old Police Siren.wav by CGEffex -- https://freesound.org/s/121902/ -- License: Attribution 4.0. Both have been supplied to freesound.org under Creative Commons license to edit and republish their samples with the premise of attribution, which I do so.
For the voice, I used a AI speech generator.
Notes to sound editing
- While originating from the same sample, the siren for the SIFA alert is pitched down by 3 semitones in comparison to the siren for the PZB emergency alarm, to made them a bit distinct from each other.
- The sound of the speech is very distorted. This is intentional to replicate the feeling of old fuzzy speakers. The sound itself is treated with limiters and has been checked to not clip on my system.
Known Issue/Bug
Because the original meep sound when pressing the PZB levers originates from the same sample as for the emergency brake, the PZB emergency brake sound is started when pressing a lever (PZB active or PZB release). I don't think I can change that unfortunately.
Other information
This mod has been created with the unofficial TSW 3 Editor, FModel and Unreal.pak.
If you notice any gamebraking issues with this mod, uninstall it by deleting the pak from your DLC folder. (None occured so far)
Tested with the BR 218 add-on in Train Sim World 4 and Train Sim World 5. It will not work with TSW versions prior TSW4 because the BR 218 is a loco released for TSW4.
The original files of the BR 218 add-on do not get altered with this mod. This is just a replacement which happens when the game loads the DLCs.
This mod does not require the routes Hamburg-Lübeck and/or Maintalbahn. The BR 218 can be used in the Training Center or in Free Roam anywhere else. However, if you want to use the loco for timetable services or scenarios, then you might need at least one of those two.
Recommendation: Always test the sounds with low volume first.
If you have any form of epilepsia, heart problems or any other medical issues where loud trigger sounds could potentially harm your health, refrain from using this mod please.
Requirements

Climb aboard the mighty diesel-hydraulic DB BR 218 and embark on passenger and freight duties from Hamburg and beyond. Explore in a new way with the first true German go-anywhere, do-anything mainline locomotive in Train Sim World®, courtesy of TSG.
Installation Instructions
After downloading, copy or move the pak file "!218_SafetySystems_Soundmod.pak" into the DLC folder under (Train Sim World)\WindowsNoEditor\TS2Prototype\Content\DLC .
For Steam, this is (path to your steam library)\steamapps\common\Train Sim World 5\WindowsNoEditor\TS2Prototype\Content\DLC.
Uninstall by deleting it from said location.
