The ICE1 is one of, if not the most well-known German train we currently have in TSW. Built between 1988 and 1993 in three series with different traction specifications, and therefore sounds, this train offers a great variety of possible configurations. Back when the ICE1 was showcased, I was quite annoyed because of how bad the soundset was. Wrong asynchronous frequency, switch to synchronous at the wrong speed, basically all the bogie and cab control sounds (even the damn door sounds too) taken from the in-game ICE3... yeah. I could go on and on and on. Given my annoyance, I decided to redo the soundset entirely, and I'm happy to say that I'm finally happy with how it turned out.
This soundmod portraits one of the newer configurations that is still running today. Following an accident in 2008, the first two powercars received new IGBT traction converters designed and built by ABB. After succesful tests in 2011 and 2012, the first series of powercars (001-020 (without 006) and 501-520) was equipped with the so-called 'ABB Bordline CC1500 AC 15kV M 2400 002 A01' three-level IGBT traction converters, which sound significantly different when compared to the old traction equipment used on the first series (13SG01b), which resembled the sound of the BR 120. The second and third series (without 051) received IGBT traction converters starting in 2020 as well, replacing the old Siemens traction equipment with its famous scale. The second series received 'ABB Bordline CC1500 AC 15kV M 2400 002 A02', which do sound somewhat different. Less loud, less bass-heavy and overall more, well... boring one could say, hence I picked the first series.
Anyhow, have fun with this mod! I might end up crafting the second 2020 iteration as well, depending on how popular this mod will be. GTO sounds will follow for sure though!
