Myron's TSW Modding Projects - Update Post #1

Hello folks!

With the possibility of creating these community posts, I wanted to try to migrate my mod update threads from the DTG Forums aswell as from rail-sim.de to the Train Sim Community website, in a style similar to roadmap posts. Since those threads were only for the ICE 3 Soundmod anyway, this offers the opportunity to address changes of multiple of my projects at once.
I plan on writing a post like this every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how much work I get done in the time inbetween.

ICE T Soundmod

As some of you may already know, I am currently working on a soundmod for the beloved ICE T, which got introduced to Train Sim World 5 with Frankfurt-Fulda.
Unfortunately, the sound of it is just wrong, besides the external section from 0 to 40 km/h (which really isn't a lot either way). I don't understand why DTG even decided to use their ICE 3 sounds (which aren't even from an ICE 3!) which just seems lazy to me.
After thinking about whether I should make a soundmod for the ICE T or not, I decided to just go for it, as noone else seemed to be interested in making one either way.

A video of the current Work in Progress status of the soundmod can be viewed below:

I also created a visual comparison between a real recording of the ICE T and the current soundmod progress, because why not?

Besides the new traction motor soundset, this soundmod will also include quite a few other things, such as a new set of internal rolling sounds, which you can hear in the video above.

A bunch of other things are planned to be added aswell, such as new door sounds and a new horn. However, especially for the horn it requires a bit of luck, as I plan to gather the audio resources on my own aswell as from a few colleagues, rather than asking to use sounds from YouTube, which is what I did for the ICE 3 Soundmod.

ICE 3 Soundmod

I am not happy with it.

That single sentence can summarize it pretty well. At this point I just feel like rebuilding the entire traction motor sound setup from ground zero, as the current one still has quite some inaccuracies, and the one or the other person said it sounds like it's coming out of a plastic barrel, which I slowly but surely understand.
Since I learned a lot during the updates for this soundmod, a remaster would honestly not be a bad idea. That's possibly also why the ICE T Soundmod generally sounds much better than the ICE 3 Soundmod does, or did, or whatever.

DB Class 423 Enhancements & Soundmod

A small update currently sits in the pipeline waiting to be released after certain problems have been resolved in the BPH neighbourhood regarding their own modernized 423 variant from their upcoming Frankfurt-Fulda EEP and my unmodernized 423. Maybe I'll also try to renew the sounds of this, but for that I need to figure out how stupidly DTG set up the sound cue for the 423 (I cannot seem to discover a general km/h parameter, which the ICE 3 and ICE T however have, for example).

Zone of Free Thinking

When TSG finally manages to find a release solution for their 420, I might just go to Munich, record some, and soundmod it. No hesitation. I am starting to fall in love with that unit. The sound really reminds me of the 485s of the S-Bahn Berlin which retired late 2023. I miss them.

Not promising anything here, but I am thinking about making a soundmod for the Vectron. Problem: it's a locomotive. I can't access locos nearly as good as EMUs for proper recordings, and a few external recordings won't do it. Eh, ICE T first anyway.

I also want to improve my Taurus Soundmod but I am too lazy. Also, same problem as above.

End of Post

I hope I remember to write the 2nd update post in a week or so. If not, blame it on Profile picture of Swing Swong Swing Swong for absolutely no valid reason whatsoever.

Until then, see you next time!
