With the takeover of the Western Pacific on December 22, 1982, the Union Pacific found itself suddenly owning equipment they had considered obsolete many years prior. While most WP locomotives and cars were quickly stored in deadlines, the oldest peices of equipment remaining in service managed to hang on. Those were WP's 1955 order of cabooses from the International Car Corporation. Despite most lasting only 2 more years in service, 5 of these cars were painted in UP's armour yellow.
With the majority of routes for this game being set before or during the 1980s, it's pretty surprising how few good caboose models exist. The best is most likely the WP caboose included with Feather River, the caveat being that the model is very specific to WP, with a very unique cupola styling. To broaden this number, in this pack are 3 skins of the UP repainted cars, with number-specific details.
Of course, 3 cabooses isn't enough for a scenario, so also included are 6 foobies of the most similar UP class--the CA-13s, aquired from Rock Island in 1980.
There are several differences between the CA-13s and the CA-14s, the main one being the cupola, with some differences on the sill and the window formation. The window on the CA-14s was larger than the CA-13s, meaning UP's iconic slogan on these cars is slightly too small in order to fit.
Also included are two special cabooses; UP 24567, a CA-13 used in the steam program from the late 80s to the 2000s, and UPP 430, a foobie for a former C-50-9 caboose that sees service today as a snowbus and shoving platform out of Denver, CO.
Included down below is a pdf with information pertaining to each specific caboose, including dates when the paint is accurate.
To make these cars usable in the scenario editor, enable both "FeatherRiver" under "DTG" and "UP Caboose Pack" under "geepeethirty." The cars will appear starting with the tag "[FR]," and are subsequently named thier reporting mark and number.
These paints are supported by both the original DTG Feather River and HIS Feather River "Enhanced." Only download one of the included files, for the route you wish for these to alias to. Which route you choose will not affect scenarios, as the bins are set up to overlap with each other.
