Yes, I am unironically making a scenario using a DTM unit as the lead locomotive.
After merging into the Union Pacific, the ex-Westen Pacific main between Salt Lake City and Oakland remained generally the same for the next year, with one very, very big exception–that being the behemoth DDA40X “Centennials” which UP brought back to life in early 1984. Over the next two years, Centennials became a common Canyon staple along with the infinitely common SD40-2.
Set in October of 1984, you will be in charge of Union Pacific general manifest train OANP, with a Centennial and a pair of SD40-2s on the headend. In a single part you will take your train all the way across the Sierra Nevada mountains, from Oroville to Portola. This scenario takes 5 hours, and is easy.
The trains in this scenario have been completely relaid, and a new version using only the SS SD40-2s is now also included. Since it is unfeasible to complete this scenario in one sitting, instructions on how to save and load are included in the scenario briefing. Additionally, a few small fixes to the Centennial are also included.
The AI is very fragile in this scenario, and the smallest change to any train breaks the AI. If you don’t screw with anything it shouldn’t break, if it does let me know.
As usual, payware requirements are linked below, the rest is freeware and linked in the readme, as is a lot more prototype and scenario info, which you should probably read.
