Brigston & Woodsworth Railway

Description

UPDATE 1/22/26: V1.2b: Minor update which includes some scenery improvements to the S&DFR branch and other small changes. Download if needed

This is the Brigston & Woodsworth Railway, a fictional 30+ mile passenger railway set in coastal England and Wales. The B&WR is a spiritual successor to a Rail Simulator route I made in 2009, "Brighton to Woolsworth", which was reworked and released on UKTS in 2011. This version of the route is completely new; it's built with newer assets and better techniques, but aims to recreate the original route's setting and tone.

Set in the late GWR era (c.1927-1947), the Brigston & Woodsworth covers a network of old joint railways which came under the control of the Great Western Railway prior to the 20th century. The area usually sees shorter and lighter trains due to weight restrictions on its bridges, but has healthy goods traffic and is a frequently used alternate route for services traveling west to Welsh ports.

The route currently covers roughly 55 combined miles of trackage, made up of the 34 mile ex-B&WR line between Brigston Central and Woodsworth Junction, the 9 mile Sabren & Deep Forest branch line, and 12 miles of the GWR mainline to Grosvenor (WIP)

Typical services are suburban commuters, heavy goods, light expresses, and various branchline trains. The line's operator is the GWR, but other Big Four specials can occasionally be seen.

Included are custom assets for signs, bridges, and other clutter. Quickdrives and a free roam using Riviera Line and Wear Valley Railway rolling stock are also provided.

CHANGES
-Winter textures added for the Brig, Sabren, and Redcliff railway bridges
-Reversed Up/Down direction naming across the route to reflect real life: GWR mainline Up direction is towards London, Sabren & Deep Forest Up direction is towards Woodsworth. This is a naming change only and doesn't affect operation
-Mileposts renumbered to loosely reflect real life: GWR mainline is measured from London, S&DFR mileposts are measured from Woodsworth.
-Fixed buggy platforms at Brigston Central
-Does Deandrift Power Station connect to anything? (it does now)
-Fixed some rogue missing textures

Known Issues:
-The signaling is largely functional, but buggy on occasion and not always prototypical. I have a limited understanding of UK signals, but I'm solving problems as I learn
-For best visual results I recommend installing the GAD "Exeter to Kingswear Track and Ballast Patch", since it improves the appearance of certain scenery assets and lofts. It's not a mandatory requirement!
