UPDATE 1/22/26: V1.2b: Minor update which includes some scenery improvements to the S&DFR branch and other small changes. Download if needed
This is the Brigston & Woodsworth Railway, a fictional 30+ mile passenger railway set in coastal England and Wales. The B&WR is a spiritual successor to a Rail Simulator route I made in 2009, "Brighton to Woolsworth", which was reworked and released on UKTS in 2011. This version of the route is completely new; it's built with newer assets and better techniques, but aims to recreate the original route's setting and tone.
Set in the late GWR era (c.1927-1947), the Brigston & Woodsworth covers a network of old joint railways which came under the control of the Great Western Railway prior to the 20th century. The area usually sees shorter and lighter trains due to weight restrictions on its bridges, but has healthy goods traffic and is a frequently used alternate route for services traveling west to Welsh ports.
The route currently covers roughly 55 combined miles of trackage, made up of the 34 mile ex-B&WR line between Brigston Central and Woodsworth Junction, the 9 mile Sabren & Deep Forest branch line, and 12 miles of the GWR mainline to Grosvenor (WIP)
Typical services are suburban commuters, heavy goods, light expresses, and various branchline trains. The line's operator is the GWR, but other Big Four specials can occasionally be seen.
Included are custom assets for signs, bridges, and other clutter. Quickdrives and a free roam using Riviera Line and Wear Valley Railway rolling stock are also provided.

v1.2
NEW ADDITIONS
-Kings Court Extension - 7 mile extension east of Afor for Aldney, featuring part of the GWR's high speed mainline to Kings Court Junction
-New quickdrive options for the S&DFR branch
-New custom models:
CHANGES
-Winter textures added for the Brig, Sabren, and Redcliff railway bridges
-Reversed Up/Down direction naming across the route to reflect real life: GWR mainline Up direction is towards London, Sabren & Deep Forest Up direction is towards Woodsworth. This is a naming change only and doesn't affect operation
-Mileposts renumbered to loosely reflect real life: GWR mainline is measured from London, S&DFR mileposts are measured from Woodsworth.
-Fixed buggy platforms at Brigston Central
-Does Deandrift Power Station connect to anything? (it does now)
-Fixed some rogue missing textures
Known Issues:
-The signaling is largely functional, but buggy on occasion and not always prototypical. I have a limited understanding of UK signals, but I'm solving problems as I learn
-For best visual results I recommend installing the GAD "Exeter to Kingswear Track and Ballast Patch", since it improves the appearance of certain scenery assets and lofts. It's not a mandatory requirement!

Hello
Admiral Leviathan I wish to say your route is very well made, stunning in fact!
However, i see the signalling is a tad bit off as you struggle with it, with that being said,me being a british signalman on a Heritage railway, id love to assist you, Especially as im used to the AndiS scripts that these signals by GAD use! please get back to me and let me know how you think! Cheers!
I love this route, been able to make so many free roam and standard playthoughs.
Only thing i find hard is that the route hasnt got any speed boards when changing tracks. found when changing into a Loop and going from 75MPH and then suddenly saying 15Mph or 30Mph dont help. mabye someting can look at for next update.
to the best of my research the GWR rarely used speed signs prior to the 1960s, at least not the BR styled ones we have in game. I haven't been able to find what signs might be period correct at any rate
Speed limits are marked on the F3/F4 HUD but they're not on every siding yet which is something I'm working on
Hello, is this route based off the former lines around the Dean Forest and the River Severn, Gloucester area. If it is would you be willing to do a version/a clone of this route with the actual station names etc, so that then we have both a real and a fictional version of this route.
it is based on that area but the track arrangement, placement of stations, goods yards etc aren't correct enough for this route to stand in for the real thing
Ok, in what way are they not good enough for the real thing.
I've found a bug when running the route in free roam or standard -- some of the points will be suddenly change to differnet tracks and wont change back. i reset the free roam i made and it did it twice at two locations alongthe route.
I'm not a scenario author so I can't really debug things like this, but I've seen weird behaviors from the AndiS signals in free roams, on top of other common dispatcher problems. Whenever I had routing issues while building the quickdrives and I worked around them by placing lots of go-via waypoints for each service. That's pretty much all the help I can offer
I'm absolutely loving this route, Admiral. Thank you for sharing!
Running on the route on an Autumn evening about 8pm from Kingscourt to Brigston I find that there is no lighting on stations or in houses until I get to Brigston, Is this intentional?...or will it be addressed in future releases?...apart from that the route is great and I love the sweeping curves and gentle gradients
Hello Leviathan!
Firstly, I need to say that this route is fantastic and I really enjoy it. I'm actually writing a load of scenarios for it to show it off
However, there are a couple of issues that I have encountered.
I'm writing a load of scenarios for this route and cannot wait to see what else is planned for it!

Hi there - Just wondering, there seems to be some textures missing around the map in various places.
I have all the requirements needed.
Any assistence would be appreciated - Thanks!
Are the missing textures in the yards, or like under the track? It could be either AP Track or the GAD texture patch I mentioned in the "Known Issues" section
Missing textures in the yards, and on a handful of patches along the line - It seems to be mostly in the larger towns / station areas that it's most notable.
I took a look at it and redid those textures. The most recent version of the route should fix this problem
Excellent - Thank you!
