Description
The ND5 diesel locomotive is an electric drive diesel locomotive purchased by China Railway from General Electric between 1984 and 1986. The installed power of the locomotive is 2940kW and the maximum speed is 118km/h. N stands for diesel locomotive, D stands for electric drive, and 5 stands for the fifth type electric drive diesel locomotive imported from abroad.
The prototype of the ND5 locomotive is the C36-7 locomotive, which is a high-power diesel locomotive launched by General Electric in 1978 and the last model in the Dash-7 series.The ND5 locomotives were imported in two batches, a total of 420 units. Divided into Type I (0001-0220) and Type II (0221-0422)
