MODDERS NOTES:
In the files of the CTC-3 Cab Car for Boston - Worcester, there are horn and bell sound samples that go unused, similar to how the MBTA Commuter F40PH-3C enginesounds went initially unused before being later added in the game (These sounds were also transfered over to the CTC-3 cab car from the MBTA Providence/Stoughton Line HSP46 gameplay pack as that pack contains a seperate but carbon-copy version of the CTC-3 from Boston - Worcester). This mod replaces the default horn and bell sounds with the unused samples. This mod also fixes the starting interior horn air release sounds that were wierdly spaced out when sounding the horn.
These sounds were recorded off of a CTC-1 cab car instead of a CTC-3 cab car, which is likley the reason why these sounds go unused. However it is possible that these sounds may be properly be included in the game in the future without the use of this mod.
v1.5 - Released 6/19/26 - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Adjusted the attenuations to match ones found in my MBTA Sound Mod: Default Sound Adjustments
-Slightly adjusted the volume for the exterior bell in the cue, as when adjusting the exterior bell attenuation, the exterior bell ended up being far too loud in the cab vestuble. The exterior bell is somewhat quieter in this new version, though it is still fairly audible.
Going forward, for those that ONLY chose either the horn or bell .pak file insted of both, it is reccomended (although not required) to use this mod alongside my newly released sound mod "MBTA Sound Mod: Default Sound Adjustments" as the default horn and bell attenuations for the BOW/BPE Gameplay Pack's CTC-3 in that mod have also been adjusted similarly to the attenuations found in this mod, and will establish consistancy with the default attenuations when using either the default horn/bell, while also using the modded horn/bell.
v1.4 HOTFIX - Released 12/08/25 - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Adjusted the sound priority value in the horn cues from 1 to 100. This should mostly (but not entirely) prevent an issue where the horn end sounds will not play after sounding the horn.
There is still an issue where the horn end sound does not play when viewing the cab car travelling at a farther distance, as well as it occasionally not playing from the inside if you operate the CTC-3 with any of the windows open. Again, it is likley to do with the RVA and it having the max stereo count limited from 16 to 32, as a majority of the external and internal sound samples are stereo, while the external horn samples in this mod are a mono-stereo convert. I may fix this in a bigger and seperate mod with all of the MBTA rollingstock in the future, but for now, as this mod is primarily focused on the horn/bell and not anything else, I am going to leave it be.
v1.4 - Released 12/07/25 - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Completley rebuilt both horn and bell sound cues from scratch in the editor, instead of UAssetGUI.
-Adjusted the doppler intensity in the horn and bell sound cues to improve the doppler effect of the horn when travelling at faster speeds.
-Adjusted the spacing of the starting interior horn air release sounds when sounding the horn as they are spaced out 0.15 - 0.25 seconds after initially sounding the horn
-Added internal horn/bell attenuation, and adjusted external horn and bell attenuations (ported over from the BOW/BPE CTC-5 Cab Car). Externally, this will allow the horn to fade in/out at farther distances than how the original attenuations were initially set.
-Reverted internal sound samples back to it's original decibel level, as increasing them caused the audio quality to degrade in the previous versions. All sound amplification changes (aside from the External sound samples which are still converted to stereo) are done in the sound cues, rather than amplifying the samples themselves to prevent sound quality degrade.
Currently, an issue that I am working on resolving is the horn end sounds occasionally not playing after sounding the horn. It is likley that it is a sound priority issue or the max stereo count value needs to be doubled from 16 to 32 in the RAA. Regardless, I do plan on fixing it eventually.
v1.3 - Released 7/04/25 - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Added support for the CTC-3 cab car from the MBTA Providence/Stoughton Line HSP46 Add-On
v1.2 - Released 5/22/25 - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Seperated the horn and bell into two different .pak files
-Edited the exterior sound samples from mono to stereo
-Amplfied the interior sound samples
v1.1 - Released 3/5/25 (First Release) - See List Below for list of changes made:
-Edited horn and bell cues to enable the usage of the unused sound samples.
-Amplfiied the exterior sound samples.
-Corrected interior horn air release sounds that by default are spaced out when sounding the horn.
