The Class 390, the Pendolino which runs along the West Coast, is now here in Train Sim World 5. This sound mod may have the most detailed traction audio I've ever put together, and dare I say... the most traction audio playing from any train in the franchise right now. It's not the fastest train in the world, and not the most efficient train in the world either, but it is definitely unique and Britain's longest standing tilting train in revenue service. Let's see what this mod has to offer:
Real traction recordings
- Different sounds taken from real Class 390s running the West Coast Mainline in real life, and the Class 334 which uses the same traction technology
- Highly detailed Periodic Carrier Frequency Modulation (PCFM) recorded from the Class 390 with dozens of time-period-accurate clips
- 84 gearbox sounds and 55 Onix 800 carrier frequency sounds are heard at all speeds of the train in high fidelity
- Detailed Class 390 sounds improve the interior motoring experience
- Separate sounds are used when close to the train and when far away from the train to boost variety
Vastly superior running audio
- 48 running recordings taken from the Class 390 in and out of London
- Separate close-up and far-away audio clips make approach sounds and passing sounds of the Class 390 realistic
- Separate interior and exterior running recordings improve the sense of speed
- Two sets of interior running recordings with a random chance for each to play
Dozens of track sounds
- Faint rail singing is included in the audio mix when the train approaches and passes at a far distance
- 94 track joint recordings are included at crystal clear quality for the Class 390
- Many more speed-dependant flange sounds have been mixed for a better experience
New Class 390 Horn
- Alternative Class 390 horn recordings from Euston
- Separate close and distant horn sounds are mixed in to add a new sense of distance fading that isn't just processing effects
Miscallenous audio
- New Class 390 saloon HVAC whirr and rumble
Known issues
- In-game frame time and performance affects the responsiveness of playing horn audio... this may result in popping/clipping but will be addressed eventually
